Overpopulation is affecting the whole world. It is depleting everyone’s available resources for the future, and if it is to continue, all life on Earth will end prematurely. Scientific studies show that the 2004 population of 6.4 billion will jump to 8.9 billion by 2050. That’s a rise of 2.5 billion people in less than 50 years. With overpopulation, the consumption of fossil fuels will increase, creating a decrease in the amounts of fossil fuels we have left. By 2050, we will only be extracting 500 billion barrels a year in comparison to the 1.75 trillion we are right now. This means that adolescents and children all over the world will have to suffer greatly by 2050 and will likely be subjected to starvation, pollution and disease. Thus making overpopulation a world problem that needs to acted upon instantly.
